Management Project - Territory Sea Country Indigenous Partnerships Program

A small grants program to assist Indigenous Territorians to better manage their sea country will be offered. Grants of between $5000 and $20 000 (up to $100 000 annually) will support groups to implement land and sea country management plans; use traditional ecological knowledge; and participate in projects to build skills and raise awareness. Fishery Status Review - Northern Fin Fishery

A detailed report on the management and sustainability of the Northern Fin Fishery in 2005. In 2005, 1,293 ton of fish were caught in Northern Territory and Queensland waters, with the most significant catches being red snappers, including saddle-tail snapper, scarlet sea perch and red emperor. This fishery was not overfished in 2005, but was considered potentially at risk from high levels of Indonesian fishing vessels. References are provided.
