Management Project - Development of a tool to reduce carbon emissions during planned burning
This project will produce a decision support tool to assist fire managers to estimate emissions of carbon dioxide equivalents resulting from different fire management options. For each of the five major fire landscapes in the Central Qld Coast bioregion, information will be provided to estimate the fuel available for consumption and potential emissions under differing conditions. Management Project - Eradication of Mimosa pigra Outlier in Central QLD
The project will reduce the impact and spread of a high priority outlier infestation of Mimosa pigra, a Weed of National Significance, over the next two years by continuing eradication from Lake Proserpine. Management Project - Building biodiversity connectivity and resilience in three priority catchments
This project will improve habitat connectivity and increase biodiversity in three priority catchments along 100km of waterway draining into the Great Barrier Reef. Management Project - Feral Pig Control Groups: together implementing strategic control plans
Feral pig control groups will be formed to create strategic control plans on a sub-catchment scale. A web page where summary and species lists can be downloaded for the NRM region of Mackay Whitsunday. The summary includes information about how recent the record, species status and % area sampled. The species list includes both plants and animals (including invertebrates). The web page also lists highlights and threatened species within the region.
