The 16th edition of the Fishery status reports provides an independent evaluation of the biological status of fish stocks and the economic status of fisheries, managed or jointly managed by the Australian Government. The reports assess the biological status of the target and key byproduct species in each Commonwealth fishery, with respect to their biomass and the level of fishing mortality. The economic performance of each fishery is also examined in terms of maximising the net economic returns to the Australian community. (Publication date: 28 Oct 2011)
