ABC Rural News: Feral cats invade Red Centre properties

Landholders in Central Australia are reporting an influx of feral cats on their properties. The Solczaniuk family, who run the Ross River Resort about 80 kilometres east of Alice Springs, say they've trapped seven cats and sighted more than 30 near their chook pen over the last two weeks. Your smartphone is now able to give you all the details on the pests in your region, thanks to a new app from the Invasive Animals CRC. ABC Rural News: Dry weather accelerates summer camel cull

Dry conditions have enabled the Australian Feral Camel Management Project to cull more than 35,000 camels in Central Australia over the last six months. An aerial cull of 7,000 camels has just been completed in the Petermann Ranges in the south-western corner of the Northern Territory, taking the total number of camels removed to 135,000 since 2009.
