Qld's NRM Rumble: Wet Tropics endangered species gets an $825k boost
This article, on the Qld Regional NRM Groups Collective website, outlines the recently funded project, Building Resilience for Cassowary, Mahogany Glider and Littoral Rainforest. The project will increase and improve habitat by supporting on-ground action including revegetation, weed and pig control, fire management and fencing. (March, 2013)

Terrain NRM eNews: 500 trees planted for cassowaries at Bingil Bay
Cassowaries in the Bingil Bay area have larger, safer and better connected habitat as a result of local residents clearing weeds and planting 500 trees on a council reserve. With funding support from Rainforest Rescue, Terrain NRM organised the tree planting event on Sunday 17th February, where nearly 40 locals planted 500 trees. (Thursday, 21/02/2013)

Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service (QPWS), Terrain and about 20 Abergowrie State School students, teachers and parents recently visited landholder, Helen Sturmey, to plant habitat tree species and set up camera traps on her property which has regular visits from endangered mahogany gliders. The Bugle Newsletter: Get in the thick of vegetation thinning
Landholders struggling with overgrown vegetation in central Queensland will benefit from a pilot program to thin and manage encroaching vegetation. The Thinning and Encroachment Area Management pilot plan will involve landholders dealing with vegetation thickening in the Winton, Longreach, Barcaldine, Black-Tambo and Barcoo shires. Management Project - Protecting critical aquatic ecosystems of the Northern Holroyd Plain Aggregation
The high ecological values of the Northern Holroyd Plain Aggregation will be protected and restored by reducing disturbance by pigs, cattle and horses and managing weeds such as parkinsonia, hymenachne and rubber vine. Management Project - Kija Management Program
Buru Warra Traditional Owners will undertake works for the Kija (Roaring Meg Falls) area, a key sacred site and iconic natural attraction in the Daintree part of the Wet Tropics World Heritage Area. They will manage it as a nature refuge and allow continued visitor access. This project involves weed and pest management, erosion remediation, fencing and visitor signs.
