ABC Rural News: Wildfire report reveals five million hectares burned out

An assessment has put the total cost of the wildfires in Queensland's Etheridge Shire at more than $10 million. More than five and a half million hectares were burnt across 216 properties between October and January, a report by the Northern Gulf Natural Resource Management Group shows. (Tuesday, 05/03/2013)

Indigenous land custodians are working with other experts in northern Australia and our neighbours in Timor and Papua New Guinea to collect shared knowledge from traditional Indigenous and contemporary practices for managing land so that it may be shared more widely.
