A natural resource management group in north-west Queensland says it is very concerned about the future of weed management in Australia. For the first time in more than a decade, the Weeds of National Significance, which helps deal with the most damaging weeds in Australia, will not receive funding this coming financial year. ABC Rural News: Commonwealth Government renews Landcare funding

The national resource management network Landcare has secured another five years of funding from the Federal Government. Existing Commonwealth funding runs out at the end of June, but the Agriculture and Environment Ministers yesterday announced that regional Natural Resource Management (NRM) groups and Catchment Management Authorities (CMAs) will share in $669 million over the coming five years. Biodiversity Fund - Northern Australian Targeted Investment

Following the initial round of funding in 2011-12, and before the next round of national funding, the Biodiversity Fund is targeting Northern Australia with an investment of up to $50 million over four years. The aim is to restore and manage Australia's biodiversity in Northern Australia and improve carbon outcomes across the landscape.

    Action on the Ground is a component of Carbon Farming Futures Program and will invest up to $99 million of grant funding in on-farm projects over six years. Action on the Ground is designed to enable on-farm trial and demonstration of practices and abatement technologies to reduce agricultural greenhouse gas emissions and/or increase carbon sequestered in soil.
