Land Cover Change in the South West (Queensland) Natural Resource Management Region

Land cover changes in the South West NRM region in 2003-4, in which 178,608 ha of native vegetation was cleared, mostly from freehold and leasehold land, about half from the Warrego catchment, almost entirely for pasture development. 47% of the region is still under native woody vegetation. This report by Queensland Department of Natural Resources and Water describes land cover changes in the South West NRM region in 2003-4. During this year, 178,608 ha of native vegetation were cleared in the region, mostly on freehold and leasehold land. This clearance was spread across the region, with about half occurring in the Warrego River catchment, almost entirely for pasture development. 47% of the region is still under native woody vegetation.
