Wambiana Station, about 50km west of Charters Towers, is celebrating a hundred years under the stewardship of the Lyons family. Its been a centre of innovation throughout that time, and now the fourth generation of the family, Michael and Michelle Lyons, face the challenge of continuing to improve the property as well as preserving the gains of the past. This study found the fauna of the Desert Uplands had primary affinities with that of arid areas, but also intergraded with coastal fauna. The eastern-most or western-most occurrence of several species are found in the Desert Uplands.
