ABC Rural News: Aboriginal community plans major horticultural development

A major horticultural development is being planned for the remote community of Ngukurr, 330 kilometres south-east of Katherine in the Northern Territory. The $2.6 million project, known as Wudjuli Farm, would employ two full-time staff and up to 25 casual employees once operating and trial crops of bananas, snake beans, cucumbers and coffee. Now the Limmen National Park has finally been declared, the Department of Natural Resources is planning to develop Munbililla into a proper caravan park with established facilities. That would involve charging campers a fee of somewhere around $20 a night, and that's outraged the regulars to the area. (Thursday, 26/07/2012)
