Management Project: Saltwater intrusion project – Arafura Swamp

The Arafura Swamp is a nationally significant freshwater swamp located on Arnhem Land Aboriginal Land Trust near the community of Ramingining. It is the largest swamp in the Northern Territory and possibly the largest in Australia, when at its fullest. The swamp has distinctive vegetation and great significance for wetland biodiversity. Since about 1995 the Yolngu people of the Arafura swamp started to notice ecological changes.
